WoW UI Mods

There are many ways in which you can change your game play on World of Warcraft. A lot of settings to do so can be found in your wow user interface options. The options listed in interface options allow you to change how your camera moves, how your mouse is used to target yourself or enemies and how the game is displayed. The video options you have allow you to change the world detail, which is a definitely a benefit if you’re playing WoW on a low spec computer.

Maybe you want to change how your look on the game is and have features that can show you how much money you have in your backpack...without even opening it! The WoW interface itself is unable to do this... but downloadable wow ui mods can!

What are WoW Mods?

These are modifications that a player creates that change the game. Below is a list of some of the popular wow mods and what they do:

• Omen is a threat meter. Members attack group members on the fact that they look threatening or not.
• Auctioneer keeps a track of prices in the in-game auction house. It gives you hints on prices for items you wish to sell or if items you wish to buy are at a reasonable enough price.
• Atlas gives you a set of maps which show dungeons and flight paths. These are NOT included in the standard game.

Wow mods are created using the Lua script language. When you download a mod it just looks like a folder full of random files. Some of the files are in Lua format and others are in XML format. Or even TOC format (table of contents). To install a mod, you just need to move the whole folder to the correct location on your hard drive.

• Mac: /Mac HD/Applications/World of Warcraft/Interface/AddOns
• Windows: C:/Program Files/World of Warcraft/Interface/AddOns

This will create a mod part of your game and changes how the game functions. Programs can be installed to automatically install your wow mods automatically.

Things to bear in mind:

• Blizzard does not provide technical support for mods. If you are having problems then the first message from technical support will most probably be to disable any mods.
• Mods can have viruses hidden within their structure. Be sure to scan files with antivirus software as your account or your computer can be hacked.
• Mods may not continue to work when Blizzard release an update. If this happens a new add-on needs to be downloaded.
• If the mods do not cause you to cheat in any way, then they are most probably allowed to be used. Do make sure that the mods are allowed before using them.
